Central NJ Heart Walk Scheduled For Oct. 21 | njtoday.net ...

PISCATAWAY ? The countdown is on! In less than two weeks, the American Heart Association Central New Jersey Heart Walk will celebrate the lives that have been touched by heart disease and stroke while raising vital funds to support cardiovascular research.

The Heart Walk, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 21 at Johnson Park in Piscataway, will have activities including an interactive ?Kid Zone?, free health screens and information, Zumba demonstrations, CPR demonstrations, lively music and more. For more information, visit www.centralnjheartwalk.org.

Although heart disease and stroke remain our community?s No. 1 and No. 4 leading causes of death, the association notes that nearly 80% of cardiac events may be prevented if certain risk factors are controlled-including issues like obesity, smoking, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Led by Jay Kingley, chair of the Central NJ Heart Walk and Founder and CEO of Kingley Health in Piscataway, the Heart Walk is part of the American Heart Association?s new approach to helping people get healthier with the new My Heart. My Life? cardiovascular disease prevention platform. This comprehensive new health, wellness and fitness initiative centers around empowering Americans to get healthier through programs focused on eating and cooking healthier meals, getting daily exercise and learning how to grow nutritious food.

Presented nationally by Subway and Jenny Craig, and locally supported by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Kingley Health, Saint Peter?s University Hospital and Johnson & Johnson, the Heart Walk focuses on celebrating health and wellness in the Central NJ community while helping to support the American Heart Association?s lifesaving mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
